Round 2 Recap: Carnage at VidantaWorld as Nearly Half the Field's Captain Packs his Bags
Andrew Novak leads a round of low ownership heroes at the Mexico Open, while Wyndham Clark's cut miss wrecks squads across Major Fantasy Golf as 45% of captains vanish from the weekend reckoning.

Round two at VidantaWorld served up a proper reminder of why this game humbles even the sharpest minds among us. The desert coastline chewed up more than half the field, and plenty of carefully built MFG squads took a beating they won't forget in a hurry.
Novak Leads the Birdie Hunters Home
Andrew Novak was the standout performer of the day, banking 77 fantasy points to top the entire scoring charts and lead the Birdie Hunter category by some distance. What makes that tally even sweeter for the few who backed him is that only 8% of squads had him in the side, meaning a decent chunk of the league just picked up a serious points swing on their rivals. Among the Fairway Finders, A.J. Ewart matched the podium pace with 63 points on just 5% selection, while Steven Fisk quietly ground out an identical 63 in the same category. Justin Lower led the Scramblers home on 49, a reminder that this group often plays the long game rather than firing low in round two. The 7337-yard par 71, with its wide fairways and long approaches, continued to reward length off the tee, and the coastal wind made shot-shaping on those Paspalum greens as tricky as ever.
The Outsiders Steal the Show
If there's a lesson from Friday, it's never sleep on the Outsider slot. Rafael Campos produced the second-best score of the day at 72 points from a mere 3% ownership, while Garrett Endicott matched Fisk and Ewart's 63 points and did it from 0% selection. That's about as under-the-radar as fantasy golf gets, and it'll have been a painful watch for anyone who left those two out entirely. These low-owned explosions are exactly the kind of differential MFG rewards, and they'll have reshuffled a fair few mini-leagues overnight.
Cut Carnage Hits Captains Hard
This is where round two turned nasty. Fifty-one golfers missed the cut altogether, and the casualty list reads like a who's who of popular picks. Wyndham Clark, selected by 53% of teams at £12.5M, was gone, as was David Ford, Lee Hodges and Rasmus Højgaard, the latter still sitting in 32% of squads at £10M. Cruelly, 45% of all teams lost their captain to the cut, meaning nearly half the league took a weekend zero on their doubled-up pick. That's a brutal outcome for anyone who trusted the big names, and it shows just how unforgiving this format can be when the course bites back.
League Table Shaping Up
Despite the chaos, Captain Hook sits top of the pile after two rounds on 743 points, just ahead of Don't Go Left on 727. Par Wars, Birtles Baddies and Oasties OAPs round out the top five, with barely a handful of points separating places three through five. With the weekend to come and plenty of movement still possible, the battle for bragging rights among friends is nowhere near settled. Round three promises more drama as survivors chase the prize of simply staying in the hunt.
